Since I retired, I have been more involved with my photography and my newly discovered passion, mixed media and assemblage art! Using found objects, trinkets, jewelry, and even some of my own photographs, I have been creating three dimensional artwork and small sculptures.
I hope you enjoy my one-of-a-kind creations!
This piece is my second creation. Using crayons, buttons, beads, chain, and a seashell, this piece is perfect for a child's room! It will either hang or it does have an easel back for standing on a shelf.
"The Lovers, The Dreamers, and Me" is 9.5" wide by 8" tall by 1" deep and can be yours for $29 (add $10 for shipping.)
This piece is a little different for me. It is rather political in content, reflecting our nation's increasing divisions in race and party. Using black, gray, and white crayons, words cut from various media, and jewelry, "A House Divided" measures 8.5" wide by 10.5" tall by 1" deep and can be yours for $39 (add $10 for shipping.)
A folding frame lined with scrapbook paper creates the perfect backdrop for a resin Noah and the Ark. This piece would be perfect for a child's room. "Two by Two" measures 7.5" wide by 5.25" tall by 1.5" deep and can be yours for $29 (add $10 for shipping.)
My first creation includes a wire basket, floral glass stones, tassels, feathers, seashells, and a twisted wire dreamcatcher.
The frame used for this piece has nine distinct sections and each section has a theme relating to everyday life, from home life to fun.
"Life Cycles" represents life's ups and downs and changes we go through daily, from our mostly hidden dark side to our everyday routines. Using miniatures, words cut from various publications, and jewelry, this piece works perfectly in its divided frame.
Repurposing an old frame for new art works great with this music themed piece. Using mostly images and words cut from various publications, the miniature wooden piano jumps out of the frame.
Using a sectioned frame, this piece is all about playing and being a child.
"Inspired" is just a fun piece that may work well for any creative person. Using scrapbook paper for the background, a zipper "explodes" buttons onto the page.
Another fun and colorful piece, I was inspired by a booth at a local antique mall! Scrapbook paper creates the background and is flourished with jewelry pieces.
This is the largest piece I have created (so far!) and represents one of my favorite drives along Rt 66 in Missouri. I have used some of my images that I have taken on the Mother Road, along with trinkets, stones, and words cut from various publications.
Starting out as a lock mechanism for a door, "The Miner" uses the lock parts to create a little "man" to which I added rocks, beads, buttons, and even a lantern so he can see when he's in the mine!
Using an old snare drum, I have covered all four quadrants of the drum with beads, jewelry findings, chains, and charms! (See next four images for pictures of the four sides.) The drum measures 10" diameter by 6" tall. March to the Beat of a Different Drum can be yours for $125 (add $25 for shipping - it's heavy!)
"Your Eyes Met Mine" is a mixed media project with a photograph of two eyes at the base of it. The photograph has been embroidered with outline stitches around the eyes and inside the pupils. In the lower left corner, there is a collage of diamond shapes with the words "Your eyes met mine and they made it whole without touching your body I hugged your soul". This piece measures 22" square by 1.25" deep and can be yours for $99 (shipping extra)
This is my interpretation of the Metallica song "Enter Sandman". Using a shadow box, I have placed things representing "dreams of war, dreams of liars" etc. "Enter Sandman" measures 10.25" tall by 18" wide by 5" deep and can be yours for $40 (add $20 for shipping)
This piece is built on an old wooden box. Handplaced beads adorn the top of the box. It took over eight hours to place the beads! "Sunflower Mosaic Box" can be yours for $99 (shipping extra)
